Hey guys. I think it may have been mentioned some time before, but i think when it gets warmer an Animé soc picnic would be really cool. Everyone who comes could try their best to make a japanese dish (sushi, noodles, dumplings etc) to share, and we could bring along manga and portable consoles to read/play ^.^

It's probably just me thinking "homemade sushi = paralysis and death", right? meh. Seems a deeply cool idea! Requires very little organising, no funding, and has lots of potential for fun. I must warn you guys tho...I'm a rain-god in my spare time, so hope for the best but prepare for the worst weatherwise!

Yep - I loved the idea originally, and I still think it'll be great. It'll obviously have to be more towards summer, and weather-based but sounds like a good event! Especially with frisbee (which I'm crap at).
I think I'll edit new ideas into the top post, so that it's easy to see what's been suggested.

A mini 5 a side football game Ice Skating Poker night A Oriental Meal out another Gaming night A fancy dress house party and even thou its not really anime related, and someone else agreed with me on it last night... A 'That 70s Show' Marathon!!!! , I just suggested the 5 a-side in another thread. Great minds think alike Ice skating is this week, on wednesday if I'm correct? Oriental meal out...this is easy enough to organise, but we'd need to decide on a date and get numbers before hand. Gaming night last night rocked, even if I have to say so myself ;D I will probably host another one in a month or so if anyones interested (not clashing with the one at the uni) House Party - My current housemates move out at the end of April, so Shaun and I have the house to ourselves from then until Anna (of impy fame) and Joel (our other housemate) moves in, so I might host one then. I wanted a 70's show marathon! I think it was me and Zeco that agreed with you Adam!

I also think we should have a trip to an aquarium to see which does indeed rule most.. octoupi or squid >.>

I like the idea of going out for a chinese though Also a thought taht came to mind a while ago, I dunno how many of you people are musicians, but it might be cool to organise some kinda Jam session

Nah, just a friendly mess around, not talent required, and even though ve been playing for over ten years, I still get embarrased playing in front of people, however if you cant master at least five at the gates riffs within the hour you will be expelled form the group

might be cool to organise some kinda Jam session DAMN RIGHT IT WILL BE ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Count me in for the Bass guitar section! I can also play a few J-Rock songs, mainly the lovely bass riff from Asian KungFu Generation's Haruka Kanata ;D And pretty much every cheesy pop punk song in existance Ill happily play any music at all and learn anything... Also, how about a Boardgame night (+Drinks for you guys n gals) and such.... Sounds a bit boring, however a few drunken animesoc members should make any monopoly game fun!

If people witnessed my inner 'angry' self at Christies on Sunday induced by Mario Kart, let this be known: I will take heads as trophies if i start to play Monopoly and begin to loose.
You have been warned,

The solution is simple. Don't play crap like Monopoly (And I say this after many many years of playing board games, including about 20 different versions of Monopoly. It's actually a really bad game.). Play good board games instead. If anyone here is in the roleplay soc, they have plenty of board games available to lend out. Settlers of Cataan is very highly recommended as an alternative.

Er...no, board games are cool. But not RPG ones. I remember I once got stuck with my brother's oxford RPGsoc and they were playing some awful game like Civilisation where you had to go around and you got "Meat" and stuff like that. Eurgh, it was excrutiating!
Now, Scrabble on the other hand ;D I do love some Scrabble. Also, I nominate Balderdash as a long but absolutely brilliant game, (people have to make up fake facts/stories and then pick out the right one) - can get quite rude sometimes - but that just improves it!
Also, when is the Chinese new year - sounds like quite a good plan. Not that I eat Chinese, but jolly good anyway! Though the restaurants might be cram-packed around then.

We should all go to a pub quiz night as a team (or few )!! I've never done one, and I'd be awful but it'd be fun..

Yeah, anime pub quiz team sounds great. I know lots of useless crap ;D I think they do a pub quiz at the union on a sunday or monday night?
Also board games - bleh I hate RPG ones, though the Civilisation board game is actually pretty cool. If you wait a month or so, I can host it at my house (I'd do it sooner but I'm worrying about pissing off my current housemates). I have Simpsons Monopoly (monopoly is my favourite board game of all time) and Disney Scrabble! Also I reckon trivial pursuit is a good game, because you can split people up into teams!

People are misunderstanding. I don't mean RPG board games, I mean board games that the RPG society has, seeing as it's actually a generic gaming society rather than just RPGs.
