What the title says basically. If you have, is it any good? Cheers, Glenski. (eep, realised this should have gone in the anime discussion section - sorry )

OK, moved it for you.
Anyway, I haven't actually seen Gantz, but I do keep up to date on the manga (even if it's being published at about one chapter per month. It's not even a monthly! The author just keeps taking breaks.). So I'll talk about that. But rants about delays aside, it's pretty good. Basically a mix of over the top violence and plenty of sex. Basically, there's a room, and when certain people die, they actually get transported there, and then they have to fight aliens. If they get 100 points, they'll be set free. The main character is a complete twat, but as the story progresses we see him grow up and become more responsible. The aliens just keep getting harder as well, and the death rate is on a par with Fist of the North Star. The reason it's good is the characterisations though, especially considering how little time many characters actually get before dying. From what I hear, the anime follows the manga fairly closely until the statues mission (which will make sense once you se it), when they had to make up an ending. The manga, however, continues after this and actually that mission is a major turning point for Kurono and the style of the series. So, give it a try, but some people may be turned off by the sex and violence.

Gantz is my favourite series ever.
The anime is accurate to the manga until after the Buddha mission, whereafter the manga moves onto the small strong alien mission, and the anime moves onto a completely different mission.
Great characters who respond realistically to the horrific situations they're faced with, intrigue and ultraviolence. And the ending theme is one of my favourite songs.
Watch the anime to the end, then you can pick up the manga around chapter 90 if you wish, which takes you to the end of the Buddha mission.
Watch out for Nishi too, he's quality.

I was quite surprised; I actually really enjoyed Gantz! Mostly, I think, because I liked the artwork (hehe, and the main character looks reeeally like an animated version of Light from Death Note). =p but the story seems intriguing too. Also, it was quite interesting seeing the one-person POV with thoughts, as you don't really get that often. hope it's brought next time! ;D

I was worried that it was one of those series that after a few episodes would wear thin because there are very few actually likeable characteres, we aren't just talking anti-heros but proper evil-masochists and a clear disregard for any value on human life or moral stance. It's definately refreshing I'll give it that. So far so good anyway!
