In this thread, I will try to show some mangas/animes which are not well known outside Japan. They will be introduced by theme/genre. The first theme is animal manga. Actually, this genre isn't so popular now...I don't know why coz there is a pet boom in Japan actually. Maybe starting with the classic one (but quite famous one): Ginga (Nagareboshi Gin) is a manga about dogs. But what is special in this manga is that Dogs speak human language...they really behave like humans...they fight against bears and bears speak human language(actually Japanese), too...hmmm, it's really UNLIKELY. So, it's quite fun Here is a link to see a picture www.rakuten.co.jp/daiou/389402/441638/692188/Some considers Wildhalf as a dog manga, too...but it that case, something like Inuyasha would be a dog manga...so, I won't say it's a dog manga. But the most successful animal manga would be a cat manga, not dog...sorry dog people! 'What's the Michael' was a big boom once. I have heard new series started (but I have never seen it in Japan). It's a cat manga...maybe 70% of characters are cats. The mangaka Makoto Kobayashi have cats himself and he is crazy about cats (so, do I ) Here is a link to the page presenting Michel in English. www.ex.org/2.5/31-manga_michael.htmlwww.darkhorse.com/profile/profile.php?sku=97-544Yes, there is a English version! And I have one in English

Harusami (maybe You mean Harusame?(rain in Spring)) Well, dogs look rude, that's true but actually they are good heros! ;D (I don't know it's true but some say the mangaka Yoshihiro Takahashi (author) is good at describing dogs...hehehe, I am a cat person)

No, Rude dog and the dweebs was a short lived american cartoon. You could look it up, but you would not truly understand it's awfulness unless you actually saw an episode.

Cartoons in the 80's were generally better but I'm not too sure if Rude Dog and the Dweebs counts as a classic ^^ My favourite Dweeb was always Winston, and of course Tweek.

Hi everyone! Lazy Yossy came back! Today, I will talk about the manga magasines. There are many types of manga magasines but especially 3 of them are important (do I sound a bit academic?) Firstly, Shounen manga (manga for boys litterally) They used to be read by kids and adolescents before but now in fact they are widely read by adults too. The most famous are Shounen Jump and Shounen Magasine. Link for Jump web site jump.shueisha.co.jp/home.htmlLink for Magasine web site www.shonenmagazine.com/Oh, in fact there are Monthly and Weekly Jump and Magasine in fact. Of course, Weekly stuff is much more popular than monthly ones. Jump is more for low-teens than Magasine. Magasine is considered more 'adult'. I personally prefer Magasine. The second category is ...'Young' stuffs. For example, Young Jump or Young Magasine. Main readers are high-teen, and men (and girls to some extent) of 20sto 40s. (some manga of 'Young' stuff is actually quite naughty and there are always photo of girals with...well just have a look from the link) www.yanmaga.kodansha.co.jp/ym/top.htmlyj.shueisha.co.jp/And Big Comic series (series cos at least there are 3 Big Comic stuff) are also popular. They are also considered 'Young' stuff but it's a bit less naughty. The 2rd category is Shoujyo manga...it's one of the most important sector of manga in fact. But I don't know really well about it cos I really don't like it. So if someone knows about shoujyo...

Do you ever read Garo Yossy? I read quite a bit from artists who have had their work in Garo. Just wondering if it's that popular cause some of it's pretty weird.
