Well, I've finally got round to posting on the forums, so here is the inevitable "Hi, I'm....";
Hi, I'm Si, I'm in my first year of a maths degree. Yes, I know, ughhh and all that, but it seemed a good idea when I was applying for courses.
As for intrests, games and anime and general sci-fi/fantasy stuff.
Favourite things include
Alyson Hannigan Id Software Legacy of Kain Spawn Deep Space Planet Future Gun Action Webcomics Zombies David Hayter Samus Aran Dr Pepper My PC Strong Bad
As for anime/manga, I prefer the sci-fi types, Trigun, Neon Genesis, Bebop....Not so fussed on high school drama and the like. Or frogs.

To be fair, Sgt Frog could technically be called sci-fi

Hello there folks! Gues this all started from a flyer in Travelling Man in the Corn Exchange.
I'm final year studying Japanese and have probably liked anime and manga since my early teens. I like a bunch of stuff and are probably prone to shows that are heavy on fighting (happens to be my favourite game genre, so there's a connection.) Want to watch Tenjou Tenge someday soon, anyone got any episodes?
Might come down tomorrow evening (that's when the meet's held, right?) See you folks there if I turn up!
P.S. Tenjou Tenge is good!

hi there! I'm here to increase your population count by 1!
My name is Jim and i'm actually a leeds met student studying games-media (in my first year). I didnt actually know about the LUU anime Soc until i picked up a leaflet from citycyber today! and I take it you guys have been around since last year. D'oh!
anywho nice to see someone has attempted an anime society - none here at leeds met due to lack of interest although there are a number of us anime freaks.
I dont have much to contribute but i am sort of into drawing (games-media and all) so I'll try to post some pics...

Oooh, the masses are flocking at last! Hurrah!
Nice to meet you jimmeh...the anime soc was only started last semester so it's not too well established just yet!
Drawing you say? Can I direct your attention to the Hoodies thread...maybe you could sketch a couple of things to possibly go on a Anime soc hoodie? (If you're bored and have time to waste).

Excellent, my plan of carrying flyers around has worked. Next I shall insist that you all have at least 5 on you at all times to recruit new members. If only these people would actually attend meetings...

Yes, but you know, if more people come we are going to need a bigger room, seeing as it's cramped enough in there with the amount we had this week.
Possibility of getting a classroom or anything?

I might have to try booking a larger room, like the one at the end of the hall. But unfortunately the block booking is in for this semester. Maybe we could have a second room with a TV and show something different?

I signed up via 'word-of-mouth' of scowny. I'm not actually from Leeds University so I hope that doesn't affect things I actually come from Sheffield; at least I'm a Yorkshire lady. I'm mainly a manga lover myself but I've recently found my love of anime grow further due to gaining broadband. Recent watches: Aishiteruze Baby Bleach Peach Girl 2x2 = Shinobuden And that's basically it.. OH! And I really love pocky ;D

Just a thought... It might be nice to know who's who...seeing as you see peopleon the board, but then can't relate them to the people in the meeting room, and darnit if I don't like to be nosey! (If you want to be stealthy and anonymous fine, but otherwise..) How about a little description to help us recognise each other! Erm...I'm a girl (good start), I've got shoulder length, thick brown hair. Freckles and lovely pasty white skin . I will normally be snuggling up to a long scarf and applying copious amounts of lipbalm. I also suffer badly from giggles at extremely cheesy or bad moments.

¡Hola a todos! My name is Juan Carlos, I study Communications and I also do Japanese as an elective. I have watched Anime since I was about 4 . My favorite Animes are: Dragon Ball, Dr Slump, Ranma 1/2, Dragon Quest, Inuyasha, Shin-Chan and Kenshin. It has taken me quite a while to find this society, but since I've been each Thursday I've quite enjoyed it! At first it took me a while to get use to the subtitles of the Anime you show (because I'm use to hearing Anime either in Spanish or Catalan), but now I've got use to it, and in a way I prefer it, because the English dubbings are awful!! Plus it helps me with my listening in Japanese. Well, now that I've found this Society you won't be able to get rid of me! That's all for now! Adiós

Hey everyone! Its Claire I know I registered b4 but I just felt like changing my username to summat more animey. Clefairy is also my nickname from my mates from bk home so I thought it was appropriate my username be that as I'm bk home at mo. For anyone who doesnt know me, I usually have a bright coloured mohawk, or failing that my hair is a most of the time a worrying shade of radioactive! My present favourite anime is sailor moon, but the live action version- that absolutely rocks- thank you Phil for lending me it, even tho I will have to borrow it off you again when I get a replacement computer as my last 1 got nicked the other day My other favourite animes include bleach, Miyuki-Chan in wonderland, dragonball z and now chobits- the manga rules for that aswell!

Just to clarify, Mr Wavey here posted in the Tsubasa thread at AnimeSuki and I noticed that he randomly lived nearby, which was pretty cool. We've spoken on MSN, and I suggested he come to Anime Soc~ ^^ Anyway... hi!

Hello there.
There seem to be a few non-uni members starting to come this week, so i'm going to hang around outside the union at about 6.45 - 7 to let people in.
|
|
|
Post by Mystery Person X on Apr 19, 2005 22:58:35 GMT
I was under the impression that one person could only sign in one non-student. Did I imagine that at some point?
|
|
|
Post by Pusscat on Apr 20, 2005 9:58:12 GMT
I thought that there was a 50p sign in charge for non-student card holders If so we're going to have to try and do something about that - maybe see if a LAMsoc (Leeds Anime Society ) card will be allowed instead? (Doubt it but worth asking). And hi to all the new people - looks like we're going to have to think about bigger rooms next year!
|
|
|
Post by Hat_Hair on Apr 20, 2005 10:10:12 GMT
A student can sign in 2 non-students, free of charge except on weekends. So, I may ask for someone else to do a sign-in. I'm fairly sure official society membership cards DO let people into the union, as I have a friend who gets into the union with a lifetime membership card for the roleplaying society, so we will have to set that up at some point. Aren't we already thinking about bigger rooms? If it wasn't block booked, we would change to one of the bigger ones anyway.

Ah righty, that's cool then.
Guess we may have to do some booking ahead for next year then if they're all booked up for now.

Don't worry about it, you'll get all the info you need. This reminds me, new commitee members will have to sign some stuff on thursday, and then you'll start getting e-mails for the societies officer. We should have done this before easter, but I messed up.
