Hi! Welcome to the Anime Soc forum. (The new one - it has replaced the old one after a day due to the potential crappiness of ezboard.) Like the one Ben started before, this is a thread to introduce yourself~
I'm Phil, the guy doing the website. I am a first year German and Japanese student (taking Linguistics as an elective), and I am a massive shoujo (girl's anime) fan although I think my tastes are actually quite varied really ^^;

Hi,
I'm Rik...
I'm studying Fine art with elementary japanese as an elective.
I like a lot of varied anime and manga.
I am a true Fan boy, I have a little knowledge of a wide range of subjects but specalise in very few.
I want to be a Neko-Kun, as I love cats.

Hello (again!) everyone (and by everyone I mean....you two ) Just in case any new people should stop by ( new people? Surely not!) I'm Lizzie, I've got frizzy hair and I'm studying Linguistics-Spanish with Elementary Jap (same class as rikku-kun! rikku-kun wa atashi no tomodachi desu!). Oh yes, and I like to throw in random probably very bad sentences in japanese! I like animes and manga, especially those with sexy sexy men in. ...Yes I am sad and find anime men attractive! *shrugs* What's a girl to do!

Could be worse - you could be a guy and find anime men attractive ^^; (What did you think the "Obsessive Touga Fan" username on the other forum was referring to...? )

Hiya~
I'm Matio, I know Phil, and he said I could be an honorary member if I wanted to be, so I'ma be love
I do Software Engineering at Manchester University, with Beginners' Japanese as an external unit. I'm hoping to carry it on for the rest of my degree, then do a full degree in Linguistics~ love
I love anime that is cliche (no accentage works here ;x;) and repetitive :D Anything with lots of filler is right up my alley, especially if that includes tonnes of stock footage. Sailormoon is a good example, which I love more than life itself - especially the Stars season.
I also love Konjiki No Gash Bell (it has that pokemon-esque feel ;x; I'm a sucker for it!), all the monster-capture anime that was on TV (Monster Rancher, Digimon up to Tamers and so on...) Consequently I love Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha (latest favourite) because it so combines the two in the way CCS should have done but didn't coz it sucks love
Anything cute is right up my street too love (don't take that too literally, but you know... ;D) Erm.. Risky Safety love Yes.. Bottle Fairy, definitely love I'm a sucker for cute and art-y!
I also love Excel Saga, coz it's so random and hilarious, and similarly Puni Puni Poemi. I'm guessing everyone here doesn't actually eat drink and breathe anime, so I also like video games~ Particularly favourites are the Seiken Densetsu series, the Zelda series, etc. etc.
I don't especially have much more to say, so erm.. Hi! :D
Edit: Oh! Disabling those accursed smilies!#nosmileys

Noooo, how could you turn off the precious smilies! (Sorry, I have to use them frequently otherwise people might not get my sarcasm!) I'm seeing a definitely Linguistics-Animefandom correlation here! Matio: nooooo! Not the boring half-episode long flashbacks of Doom! (Prince of Tennis is one of the worst for that). I can't stand them! Only 25mins, is it too much to ask for some new material?!

X had quite a lot of flashbacks, but that was still brilliant. Also, the first recap in Excel Saga is one of the best episodes of the series (although the second recap, with all the Pedro stuff, just kinda sucked).

In all fairness, I'm kinda a wannabe-linguist~! Just wait 'til my next degree, I swear! I don't mind Flashbacks but they're not my favourite~ It's more a case of anime that does the same thing every episode. You know, exactly like Sailormoon~ "OH NO A YOUMA *kill it**purify*" "OH NO ANOTHER ONE *purify*" "OH NO RINSED AND REAPEAT'ED" In all fairness, some anime handles flashbacks/recap episodes really well love Excel Saga springs to mind; behold the greatest recap episode EVER like half-way into the series, it's ace Edit: In all fairness, who watches Prince of Tennis anyway? I mean.. really!

Hi all, I'm David. ^_^
I'm a first year doing a degree in Nanotechnology and presently in the middle of a nervous breakdown. 6 hours of lectures in a day isn't goof for one's heath. Gotta run to get back to the next 3 in a min but a quick run down. Lover of rock and indie music, world cinema mafia and yakuza films, video games, RPG's every Zelda game in existence, Anne Rice books and Vertigo graphic novels.

Hi everyone!
I'm Claire and I don't know much bout anime and manga but I want to learn... I grew up with dragon ball Z and sailor moon and a few others in my summer holidays whilst visiting the family in France, so it has been an interest of mine since an early age. From all the ones I've seen so far apart from the above mentioned, my favourite anime has to be azumangadaioh (sorry bout horrendous spelling, I can't be arsed to check how it's properly spelt) and the one with the gay guy with pink hair the other week was good aswell (more gay and lesbian orientated anime please)...
Other than anime, I've got many interests mostly revolving around rock music (join rock soc, it's great!), skating and art.

Oh yeah, the whole southern fairy thing is that I freeze my arse off in Leeds- it's so fucking cold compared to Slough (Where I'm from originally). I thought I would have got used to it after a year of being here... Oh yeah, and I'm a lightweight aswell (I had the equivalent of about 10 units last nite but that's besides the point)!

Hmm, I'm on FFXI. It's a good MMORPG but that's just what it is really - so it suffers the same slow game play, annoying gamers and unfortunately waiting around for ages because no-one wants you in their party. It's a good game though - especially if you're into onliners but i prefer offline FF. I'm on the Sylph server if you get on - but i don't think i'll be paying for it over december since i don't have net at home...and of course all that Japanese work to catch up on.

Ah, I'd love to play FFXI, but seeing as I don't have an internet connection in my room at uni, I'll have to do without.
